Be and Do by Scott Hadden and Charla Davis
This illustrated article deals with who we are (identity) as believers in Christ. Does what we do determine who we are or does our nature or heritage (God's children) determine who we are? This article deals with the tension between being and doing and it's effect on our identity in Christ. It explains why many believers hang their heads in shame instead of lifting their heads high as "ambassadors for Christ."
A Living Relationship by Theron Messer
I am sure that most Christians have heard it said that, "Christianity is not a religion, Christianity is a relationship with Christ." We tell people that they must have a "personal relationship" with Jesus, but what does that phrase mean? Most Christians I meet know very little about a relationship with Jesus let alone meaningful intimacy with Him. They long for power in their lives, but they do not have a sense of His presence. The unfortunate result is a life of frustration lacking the abundance which Jesus promised. Read this article to find out why Christians seem to be powerless.
A Christian View on Medication by Scott Hadden and Theron Messer
This article deals with the question "Is it right for Christians to take medication?" It is our desire that no believer have to be on any unnecessary medication yet sometimes individuals do need short-term medication to enable them to trust the Lord and ,with His guidance, deal with the problem. When one is in deep depression his ability to trust is hindered. Some can occasionally wean off the medication after a short period of time. Others may have a genetic deficiency and their bodies are not sufficiently producing the chemical needed for "normal" brain functioning. These may need to be on medication for a much longer time period. Let's not shoot our wounded, brothers and sisters in Christ, instead let's encourage them to trust Him and walk humbly with Him, dealing with physical problems by using medicines when necessary.
Responsibility by Scott Hadden
Recently I heard a Christian leader comment, "the problem with Christians today is that they only look to God to meet their needs and neglect following Him and fulfilling the Great Commission." The comment was a response (and rightly so) to those believers who look to God as a "sugar daddy", a God who meets all their needs.
God has promised to meet all our needs, but it has become evident that many Christians have a problem balancing God's responsibility and actions toward the believer (what we want) and the believer's responsibility and actions toward God (what He wants). This article shows that the question isn't an either/or but a shared responsibility.
